Paws, Breathe, Relax

March 2023 - June 2023

About Y. F. Guan’s Artwork

“My watercolour paintings reflect my love of nature.

I am interested in the nature of water, the fundamental substance that it is so easy to take for granted. The transparency of watercolour offers a special sense of honesty on the paper. Because I cannot hide any of my mistakes, my humanity is in bare view. Watercolour likes to do its own mysterious thing most of the time. Just like nature, it is an artist by itself.”

- Yong Fei Guan, Exhibit Artist

CURRENT EXHIBIT

Paws, Breathe, Relax features nine unique images just in time for spring, by Edmonton-based artist Yong Fei Guan, who was invited by the Project Curator (Gabriela Rosende).

We encourage you to absorb the warmth and light emitted off of these beautifully vivid images, inspired by the landscapes of the Alberta and BC landscapes, by artist Aeris Osborne.

ABOUT THE EXHIBIT

“As we enter the year of the Rabbit 2023, predicted to be a year of hope (the rabbit being a symbol of longevity, peace, and prosperity in Chinese Culture) we are amused with a rabbit’s folly, while other animals also bring a feeling of contentment and calm into our human lives. Via curious companions in artist Yong Fei Guan’s whimsical, water colour paintings, we are reminded of our own connection, or disconnection, to nature.”

- Gabriela Rosende, Exhibit Curator
